Solving pest problems others can't

A professional pest control technician should be called out as they have the correct insecticide and equipment for spraying deep into the nests even when the nest is at height or in a hard-to-reach position.
Problems wasps can cause
- Wasp stings can be fatal if the nest is aggravated.
- Nests are made from a papery substance which could be a fire risk – we have been to jobs where wasp nests have caught fire within downlighters (spotlights fitted in the ceiling/loft)
- Wasp nests increase in size as wasps multiply quickly, becoming a larger issue later in the season.
- They enter vulnerable areas in the property later in the season for light and warmth.
- Live until Jan or February if the nest is large.
- If left create queens that will hibernate in the roof until the following season. This will increase in the number of nests you will get year on year if not treated.

Guides:
How long does it take to see results after treatment?
Most treatments will kill the nest the same day, however for larger nests or hard-to-reach areas it can take seven days to die off.
Why do you not remove the nest straight after spraying?
Nests are not usually removed (only sprayed) and may take a day or two to die off after treatment because foraging wasps may be out of the nest at the time of spraying. These wasps will return to the nest at the end of the day and only then come in contact with the treatment.
Should I have the nest removed?
Ideally the papery nests should be removed about two weeks after the treatment.

Wasp Nest Removal
The papery nests should be removed about two weeks after the treatment. A wasp nest can be highly flammable, especially when it is old, dry and near down lights or ceiling lights where the hot element is in the roof/wall cavity
Leaving a wasp nest can prevent other trades from wanting to carry out urgent work in a roof, even if it is an old nest. Unless you break into it is not always possible to tell.

Frequently Asked Questions
If left untreated, wasp removal can be dangerous, as the wasps may become agitated and swarm and sting you. In some cases, people have been hospitalised after being stung by wasps or experienced anaphylaxis. If you have small children or pets, they are also at substantial risk of being stung if they encounter an active wasp nest, so it is important to take care of wasp removal as soon as possible in this case.
Normally wasp nests last around three to four months during the summer. As the summer ends and temperatures start to drop, wasp numbers will also decrease. The colder weather and lack of food will lead to the decline in the number of wasps and the new queens will hibernate ready for the next season.
Yes, wasps are accidental pollinators when they fly from flower to flower. So, they do have a benefit to the environment. However, unlike bees, wasp numbers are high and the impact of a wasp treatment will be negligible.
